Champions League Fixtures This Evening: Chelsea v Barcelona & Additional Games
Greetings to another night of thrilling European Cup football. Nine fixtures are set for this evening, with three British teams in action. The Blues meet Barça in the key match of the evening, whilst Newcastle travel to Marseille and City host Bayer Leverkusen.
League Table
It's the midway point of the league stage, so the rankings is taking form. Each of the six British clubs are currently in the top 12, but there are only 2 pts separating fifth and 16th place, thus there's a sense of snakes and ladders about the entire situation. All remains open.

Initial Game Reports
Just one goal in the first half of the early fixtures. Samuel Dahl's 6th-minute strike has earned Benfica under Mourinho a 1-0 lead away to the Dutch side.
Marseille v Newcastle Preview
Although Newcastle traveled to the south of France fresh from their restorative 2-1 home Premier League win against City on Saturday, and having defeated Union Saint-Gilloise, the Portuguese side and Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League, their only away victory since the start of April came in Brussels at Union SG.
It's not that Howe was eager to talk about the psychological aspect of this travel sickness. “The European Cup is different to domestic games,” said the manager, whose team are 6th in the Champions League standings, with nine points from a possible 12 and direct progression to the last 16 nearly secured. “I don’t know if you can compare them.”
We have a separate live blog for Chelsea v Barcelona. Scott Murray, the MBM equivalent of Maradona is on duty for that.
