Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate issued a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public personalities shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an adviser could have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the death was made.
