Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
