The former president's Granddaughter Receives Expert Guidance from Tiger Woods Before LPGA Debut
This young athlete has considerable online following
Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile cheerleaders when she starts her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, a passionate golfer, owns several courses worldwide and regularly matches against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we have some close matches," she stated.
The golfer shared that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Simply stay calm."
"He essentially advised me to go out there and have fun," she continued.
"To me, he's simply a normal grandpa. He won't be there for the tournament. He's focused on presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."
Being non-professional, Kai has participated in a mere three competitions recently and holds position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
However she's able to receive tips from Tiger Woods, romantically involved with her mother.
"He is the top athlete globally," Kai expressed.
"Furthermore, he's a superior individual. He suggested me to play, relax, following whatever happens."
She'll challenge several most prominent players in the sport at the competition, including world number two Nelly Korda, England's golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
The LPGA stated that her participation exposes golf to different demographics, especially reaching youth audiences.
Kai maintains millions of followers and has started a personal clothing and lifestyle label.
The competition starts at late afternoon GMT.
